This was a very good read.

Looking back at that time now, it does seem rather silly that the church (well, some denominations) was enforcing a rule about haircuts. It's almost like these religious leaders will make rules out of anything - without any nuance or context - just to oppress certain groups or to maintain control (without realizing they are actually losing merit in the process).
