This is a honest and well-written article, Kayla!
I have also found myself in a similar situation ever since accepting that I was LGBTQ+.
Before then, I attended service every Sunday and was overwhelmed by guilt, and so I needed a break from churchgoing in order to accept myself.
Now that I have, I also feel like a lukewarm Christian: not attending worship, and rejecting their views on LGBTQ+ matters.
The sad thing is that these churches think they are doing a good thing by disapproving of "the LGBTQ+ lifestyle" - whatever that means. I've only ever seen it cause harm and disconnect people from God.
I hope that in my lifetime, the church wakes up to the damage they have caused with this belief. Unfortunately, they will never be able to undo the damage they have done... but it's a start.
Thank you for publishing this, it articulated the thoughts I've been ruminating on, and it's nice to not be alone!
